Yep they were called the Armada, these are very utilitarian vehicles, used in the more rural parts of India as a people mover. Had barely about 65bhp from a diesel motor and optional 4wd, which costed more so most were 2wd.

Ah, but is it more like a Jeep than, say, a modern super-lardy version of same? In other words, is an Indian direct-copied CJ-5 + four doors more a true Jeep than a modern wrangler with a serious eating problem, lots of plastic, and four doors? I submit that it is.

The Mahindra has a class of its own. I think that Jeep sissified he wrangler when they put 4 doors on it.
